Medicare For People Under 65 in Idaho

People under 65 in Idaho can still  qualify for Medicare . To do so, they must have been diagnosed with a qualifying disability. In most cases, there is a two-year waiting period requirement as well. After being diagnosed, potential applicants must collect Social Security Disability benefits for at least 24 months. Then they will become eligible for Medicare. In some cases, it is possible to qualify under age 65 without waiting 24 months. People who have been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis can enroll in Medicare just a few months after being diagnosed. Similarly, people with an End-Stage Renal Disease diagnosis can get started with Medicare soon after they’ve begun receiving treatment.

If you are an Idaho resident that receives Social Security, you should be automatically signed up for Original Medicare when you become eligible. If you want to stay with this plan, you can, but you do have the option to purchase plans from private medical insurance companies through Medicare Advantage. If you aren’t receiving Social Security benefits yet, you will have to apply for Medicare and enroll in coverage on your own. This can be done easily. All you need to do is contact the Social Security Administration. This can be done over the phone, in person, or via the mail.
